Living history – from dark age to middleage

21.–22. may 2016
Estonian Open Air Museum

When crusaders came to Terra Mariana what kind of people they met here?
What made viking age estonians one of the richest in the area?
How medieval people showed off?
How medieval or viking children spent their days and what games they played?

Viking age and medieval times are here again in The Estonian Open Air Museum. While visiting us you’ll see the everyday life of craftsmen and warriors. You can observe and participate in smithing, woodworking or weaving cloth. You can try foods what our forefathers ate at feasts or in everyday life. You can feel and smell the living camp of viking and medieval age. It is possible to peek into the viking tent and touch the weapons and armor worn in medieval times. If the warriors are getting serious then step back - let them settle their business.

Our camp is set up in a principle of timeline. On one side you will see the viking age and while walking forward you will reach medieval times.
